Quick Start Guide: OSMODO Handle PRO

Unboxing & Overview

The OSMODO Handle PRO brings the core controls you actually use to the most natural place on your rig: your grip. Get Record and Stop at your fingertips while filming in the DJI Mimo app.

Important: OSMODO Handle PRO connects to your phone and works inside the DJI Mimo app. It does not connect directly to the Osmo Pocket.

In the Box

  • OSMODO Handle PRO

Compatibility

  • Designed for OSMODO rigs for DJI Osmo Pocket 3
  • Works with Grip Rig 2 setups and other rigs that can mount the handle
  • App requirement: Control works inside the DJI Mimo app on your phone

Key Features

  • Same ergonomics as your current OSMODO Side Handle: Familiar, comfortable grip that feels right at home on your rig.
  • Record + Stop at your fingertips: No reaching for the screen mid-shot.
  • Bluetooth connectivity: Pairs to your phone for wireless control.
  • Works inside DJI Mimo: Designed to control recording while shooting in the DJI Mimo app.
  • Auto-Off power saving: Enters power saving after inactivity to protect battery life.
  • USB-C charging: Easy top-ups with the cable you already carry.

How It Works

  1. Pair the handle to your phone via Bluetooth.
  2. Open DJI Mimo and connect your Osmo as you normally do.
  3. Use the handle to REC button to Record / Stop while filming in Mimo.
  4. PRO TIP: It will work in any camera app that utilizes the volume up to shutter function.

Charging & Battery Life

USB-C Charging

  • Plug the handle into any USB-C charger or USB-C power source.
  • Use the battery indicator to confirm charge status

Battery Life

  • Up to ~2 months per charge (normal use with power saving enabled).
  • Typical use is multi-week battery life.
  • Battery life varies with connection time, use frequency, and settings.

Power Saving

  • Auto-Off: After 15 minutes of inactivity, the handle enters power saving automatically.
  • Tap the power button to disengage.
  • Manual power save: Use the handle power button to enter power saving whenever you want by holding the power button for 3 seconds.
  • Tip: Use power saving anytime you know you are done filming for a while.

Pairing Guide

First-Time Pairing

  1. Press the power button to enable pairing mode. LED should flash blue.
  2. Go to your phone Settings and find OSMODO HANDLE PRO turn Bluetooth on.
  3. Put the handle in pairing mode (if it is not already).
  4. Select OSMODO Handle PRO from the Bluetooth device list.
  5. Open DJI Mimo and test Record / Stop.

Reconnect Later

  • In most cases, the handle will reconnect automatically when powered on and Bluetooth is enabled.
  • If it does not reconnect, open Bluetooth settings and tap the device to reconnect.

How to Install

1. Attach the Base Mount

Line up the handle base with a 1/4-20 port on your rig (OSMODO, OSMODO PRO, Grip Rig 2, or a compatible cage/plate). If your rig supports anti-rotation pin holes, align the pins for a twist-free connection. If your rig does not have pin holes, you can still mount using the 1/4-20 screw.

2. Secure with Mounting Screw

Thread the 1/4-20 mounting screw into the rig and tighten until snug. Do not overtighten. This keeps everything solid without risking damage to inserts or threads.

3. Attach the Handle

Slide the handle onto the mount and position it where it feels best in your grip. Make sure it is fully seated before tightening.

4. Lock the Position

Tighten the handle to lock it in place. Give it a quick test pull to confirm it is secure before filming.

5. Add Accessories (Optional)

  • Top 1/4-20 mount: Add a small light, mic mount, magic arm, or other accessories.
  • Cable management: Keep USB-C or accessory cables routed cleanly so they do not snag during moves.

Single vs Dual Handle Setup

  • Single handle: Great for lightweight, one-handed operation. Mount on your preferred side for comfort and balance.
  • Dual handle: Add a second handle on the opposite side for stable, two-handed moves and smoother pans.

Pro Tip: Ultimate Dual Handle Setup

For the cleanest two-handed control, run OSMODO Handle PRO on one side for Record / Stop, and add a standard OSMODO Side Handle on the other side. You get the same matched ergonomics on both hands, plus smart control right where you want it.

  • Right hand: OSMODO Handle PRO for Record/Stop and power functions.
  • Left hand: Standard OSMODO Side Handle for balanced support.
  • Tip: Match handle height on both sides for the most comfortable, stable setup.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use power saving between sessions to maximize battery life by holding the power button until LED flashes from purple to green then let go.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • You see the volume up symbol on phone: This happens when you connect the handle with the app open. Leave the DJI Mimo app and reenter the app. This should disable volume symbol.
  • Nothing happens when I press Record/Stop: Confirm you are filming inside DJI Mimo and the handle is connected to your phone over Bluetooth. Then test again. The LED should indicate RED on button presses.
  • Paired but not controlling: Close and reopen DJI Mimo, confirm the OSMODO Handle PRO is connected, then try again.
  • Handle will not pair: Forget the device in Bluetooth settings, restart Bluetooth, then pair again.
  • Controls feel off: Restart the DJI MIMO app
