Quick Start Guide: Tilting 1/4-20 Mount (Male) for Insta360 Luna Ultra Screen

Setup time: About 2–3 minutes

Tools needed: 3mm hex key; optional 2.5mm hex key for hinge adjustment

Compatibility: Designed for the removable screen on the Insta360 Luna and Luna Ultra.

What You’re Installing

This mount adds a standard male 1/4-20 connection and 195 degrees of adjustable tilt to your removable Insta360 Luna Ultra screen.

The 1/4-20 mounting screw slides forward and backward inside the mounting slot, allowing you to find the best screen position for your handle, arm, plate, or camera rig.

In the Box

  • Tilting 1/4-20 Mount for Insta360 Luna and Luna Ultra Screen
  • Male 1/4-20 mounting screw

Insta360 screen, camera, rig, handles, arms, and other accessories are sold separately.

Before You Begin

  • Power off the removable screen before installing it.
  • Make sure the screen and the mount’s screen connection are clean.
  • Confirm that your handle, arm, plate, or camera rig has a compatible female 1/4-20 mounting point.
  • Remove anything that may prevent the screen from connecting fully to the mount.

Important: Adjust the viewing angle by applying pressure to the back of the mount. Do not pull on the screen itself or use the screen as a lever.

Setup Steps

1. Remove and Power Off the Screen

Remove the Luna Ultra screen from the camera and power it off before installation.

2. Align the Screen With the Mount

Align the rear mounting connection on the Luna Ultra screen with the screen connection on the tilting mount.

Make sure the screen is facing the correct direction and is straight before attaching it.

3. Attach the Screen

Place the screen onto the mount until the mounting connection is fully seated.

Gently check that the screen is secure. Do not twist the screen or force the connection at an angle.

4. Position the Sliding 1/4-20 Screw

Slide the male 1/4-20 screw forward or backward inside the mounting slot.

Choose a starting position that lines up with the female 1/4-20 mounting point on your handle, arm, plate, or camera rig.

5. Attach the Mount

Align the male 1/4-20 screw with the female 1/4-20 mounting point.

Turn the screw clockwise until it begins threading into the mounting point. Leave it slightly loose so the mount can still slide forward and backward.

6. Find the Best Position

With the screw still slightly loose, slide the mount forward or backward along the mounting slot.

Position the screen where it is easy to see and clear of handles, cables, controls, and other accessories.

7. Tighten the 1/4-20 Screw

Hold the mount in the selected position and tighten the 1/4-20 screw clockwise until the mount is secure.

Do not over-tighten. Confirm that the mount cannot slide or rotate before moving the rig.

8. Set the Viewing Angle

Hold the rig steady with one hand. Use the other hand to push or pull from the back of the mount until the screen reaches the desired angle.

The hinge provides up to 195 degrees of adjustment. Do not force the hinge past the end of its normal movement.

9. Adjust the Hinge Tension

If the hinge moves too easily or feels too firm, use a 2.5mm hex key to adjust the hinge screw in small increments.

  • Turn clockwise for a firmer hold.
  • Turn counterclockwise for easier movement.
  • Test the hinge after each small adjustment.

Do not fully remove the hinge screw.

10. Power On and Check the Mount

Power on the Luna Ultra screen.

Confirm that the screen is connected securely, the 1/4-20 screw is tight, and the hinge holds the selected viewing angle.

Tip: For compact transportation, move the mount into its fold-flat position. Make sure the screen will not contact another accessory before folding it.

Removing the Screen

  1. Power off the Luna Ultra screen.
  2. Loosen the 1/4-20 screw and remove the complete mount from the rig.
  3. Hold the screen and mount by their supported areas.
  4. Carefully disconnect the screen using its normal removal direction.
  5. Do not pull on the display, twist the connection, or use the hinge as a removal lever.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • Screen will not connect: Check its orientation and make sure the mounting surfaces are clean. Do not force the connection.
  • Screen feels loose: Remove it and reconnect it, making sure the mounting connection is fully seated.
  • Mount slides forward or backward: Tighten the male 1/4-20 screw while holding the mount in the selected position.
  • Mount rotates: Confirm that the mounting surface is flat and the 1/4-20 screw is fully tightened.
  • Screen angle drifts: Tighten the hinge screw slightly with a 2.5mm hex key.
  • Hinge is difficult to move: Loosen the hinge screw slightly and move the screen using the back of the mount.
  • Mount will not fold flat: Check for cables or accessories blocking its movement. Do not force it.
Compatible Mounting Points

Use the mount with compatible female 1/4-20 mounting points found on OSMODO Side Handles, Grip Rig 2 setups, tripods, monitor mounts, magic arms, clamps, camera cages, plates, and other camera-rigging accessories.
