Quick Start Guide: Tilting Cold Shoe Mount for DJI OSMO Pocket 4P FrameTap Screen

Setup time: About 2–3 minutes

Tools needed: None for normal setup; optional 2.5mm hex key for hinge adjustment

Compatibility: Designed for the DJI FrameTap screen included with the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P Vlog Combo.

What You’re Installing

This mount adds a standard cold shoe connection and 125 degrees of adjustable tilt to your DJI FrameTap screen.

The mount can slide forward or backward inside the cold shoe before tightening, allowing you to find the best screen position for your rig.

In the Box

  • Tilting Cold Shoe Screen Mount for DJI FrameTap

DJI FrameTap screen, camera, rig, handles, and other accessories are sold separately.

Before You Begin

  • Power off the FrameTap screen before installing it.
  • Make sure the FrameTap and the inside of the fitted housing are clean.
  • Confirm that your handle, cage, bracket, or camera rig has an open standard cold shoe.
  • Remove any cover or accessory that prevents the FrameTap from seating fully.

Important: The fitted screen housing is fragile when the FrameTap is not installed. Do not squeeze, bend, twist, or pull on the empty housing.

Whenever possible, install the FrameTap before attaching the mount to your rig.

Important: Adjust the viewing angle by applying pressure to the back of the mount. Do not use the FrameTap screen as a lever.

Setup Steps

1. Remove and Power Off the FrameTap

Remove the DJI FrameTap screen from the camera and power it off before installation.

2. Orient the FrameTap

Hold the mount carefully by its supported lower section. Orient the FrameTap so the display and controls face outward.

Make sure the FrameTap power button lines up with the side power-button access on the mount.

3. Push the FrameTap Into the Housing

Support the housing from behind and gently push the FrameTap directly into the fitted opening.

Apply even pressure to the body of the FrameTap, not the display glass, until it is fully seated.

Do not twist the FrameTap or force it into the housing at an angle.

4. Loosen the Cold Shoe Locking Knob

Turn the locking knob counterclockwise just enough for the cold shoe foot to slide freely.

Do not completely remove the locking knob.

5. Slide the Mount Into the Cold Shoe

Slide the cold shoe foot completely into the cold shoe on your handle, cage, bracket, or camera rig.

Keep the locking knob slightly loose so the mount can still slide forward and backward.

6. Find the Best Position

Slide the mount forward or backward inside the cold shoe.

Position the screen where it is easy to see and clear of handles, cables, controls, and other accessories.

7. Lock the Mount in Place

Hold the mount in the selected position and turn the locking knob clockwise until the mount is secure.

Hand-tighten only. Do not use pliers or over-tighten the locking knob.

Confirm that the mount cannot slide or rotate before moving the rig.

8. Set the Viewing Angle

Hold the rig steady with one hand. Use the other hand to push or pull from the back of the mount until the screen reaches the desired angle.

The hinge provides up to 125 degrees of adjustment. Do not force the hinge past the end of its normal movement.

9. Optional: Adjust the Hinge Tension

If the hinge moves too easily or feels too firm, use a 2.5mm hex key to adjust the hinge screw in small increments.

  • Turn clockwise for a firmer hold.
  • Turn counterclockwise for easier movement.
  • Test the hinge after each small adjustment.

Do not fully remove the hinge screw.

10. Power On and Check the Mount

Use the side power-button access to turn on the FrameTap.

Confirm that the FrameTap is fully seated, the cold shoe knob is secure, and the hinge holds the selected angle.

Tip: For compact transportation, tilt the mount into its fold-flat position. Make sure the screen will not contact another accessory before folding it.

Removing the FrameTap

  1. Power off the FrameTap.
  2. Loosen the cold shoe locking knob and remove the complete mount from the rig.
  3. Support the fitted housing with one hand.
  4. Pull the FrameTap outward from the bottom back of the mount.
  5. Do not pull from the top of the housing or use the display as a handle.

Important: Once the FrameTap is removed, the empty housing is fragile. Handle it carefully and do not squeeze or flex the sides.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • FrameTap will not seat: Check its orientation and remove anything interfering with the fitted housing. Do not force it.
  • Power button is not accessible: Remove and reinstall the FrameTap with the power button aligned to the side access.
  • Mount slides in the cold shoe: Make sure the cold shoe foot is fully inserted, then tighten the locking knob.
  • Mount rotates: Confirm that the locking knob is tightened and the cold shoe is compatible with the mount.
  • Screen angle drifts: Tighten the hinge screw slightly with a 2.5mm hex key.
  • Hinge is difficult to move: Loosen the hinge screw slightly and move the screen using the back of the mount.
Compatible Mounting Points

Use the mount with standard cold shoes found on compatible camera cages, brackets, Grip Rig 2 setups, and cold-shoe-equipped OSMODO handles.
